Oreeka - Katunayake Airport Transit Hotels

We have our annual getaway here. It’s far enough from the city that you don’t have to worry about noise and pollution, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. They’re flexible with university students on a budget. The pool is fantastic, and we spend most of our time there, so book ahead. We get a separate section away from other guests, where we can have fun without disturbing anyone.

The service really stood out. I’d booked the wrong date, and when I arrived at midnight every room was full. The staff worked hard to find a solution and made sure I felt comfortable while they tried. Luckily, someone checked out early and I got to stay the night. Even if that hadn’t worked out, I felt safe and supported. The rooms are spacious and nice, there’s warm water, and the breakfast and lunch options are good. I’d highly recommend this hotel. We reserved two rooms through Agoda in December for one night, but when we arrived the hotel demanded almost twice the price shown there. They said the Agoda rate was “not updated,” though no extra charge had been mentioned when we booked. That’s unacceptable. We refused to pay more, and they argued with us and acted very unprofessionally. The cab charges were high too, and the whole situation felt like a scam. It seemed to us that the hotel changes prices at pickup or arrival to cheat customers. I strongly recommend against booking here. Agoda should investigate and remove the hotel from its platform to protect other travelers. Very disappointing, and not recommended at all.

The host was really nice, and the place is roomy and close to the airport. Breakfast has no options for vegetarians, though. Still, we had a good stay.
