The view was wonderful, and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching life in Kandy. Shani Residence Kandy is quiet despite being close to the city center and the famous temple. The owners are a very helpful, well organized family who had everything prepared. They provided QR codes for the wifi and telephone number, then sent tips for all kinds of things over Whats App. We also attended the ceremony at the Tempel, which was a great experience. We had a lovely stay and can absolutely recommend it.

We liked being able to sit outside in a quieter spot away from Kandy’s noise, while still being close enough to walk into town. Just be ready for an uphill walk back. The place was clean, and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. There’s construction underway to expand it, and the view should be beautiful when it’s finished. The workers kept considerate hours, so it didn’t disturb us much. Great stay for the price, and I hope to come back.

We arrived during a serious weather situation that disrupted services nearby, and it became clear there weren’t other hotel options. Our hosts looked after us completely through it. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The owners were helpful and friendly, and even let us leave our bags after checkout. Our room had air conditioning, a fan, a mosquito net, and a good bathroom. WiFi was a little slow. It’s a doable 10-15 minute walk up the hill, though with luggage a quick tuk tuk ride may be easier.

The host really seems to care that guests enjoy their visit. If you don’t have a plan, he can put together a thoughtful itinerary for the city. It’s a family run hotel with a friendly touch and a good professional standard. Our modest room was very nice, with beautiful city views.
