Redhill Kandy

The quiet was what I appreciated most at RedHill Kandy. I could spend hours on the balcony reading or doing yoga, with misty hills all around, and it felt like a little retreat above the city. My suite had beautiful views, and the whole place was peaceful and relaxing. As a woman travelling alone, I felt comfortable throughout. Chalanka is calm, kind, and attentive, and offered useful suggestions without pushing anything. When I said I was going to Nuwara Eliya, he recommended taking a tuk tuk instead of a taxi for the waterfalls and mountain scenery. He arranged it at a good price with stops to enjoy the views. I’m on my way now and grateful for the advice. It’s a scenic 15 to 20-minute walk to Kandy Lake, and I felt safe on the route. Tuk tuks are easy to find and affordable too, including RedHill Kandy’s own driver. You’re near enough to get around, but far enough from the noise to unwind. Breakfast was fresh and generous each morning, with juice, fruit, toast, and omelette. RedHill is a lovely choice if you want a peaceful place with great views in Kandy.

The owner and staff were so kind and helpful, and the food was excellent. My room was spacious and very clean, and the view across Kandy was stunning. The road up to the hotel is narrow and a bit uneven, but the scenery makes it worth the trip. We had a wonderful stay.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I came with my two kids, but the room wasn’t ready at check-in. There wasn’t even bottled water, the floor hadn’t been cleaned and smelled bad, and neither the AC nor the TV worked. They charged 20,000 for one night, and I didn’t get value for my money. It’s just a view, with no service to match. The owner was supposed to give me 1,000 in change, but didn’t when I left, saying she had none. 😂 Terrible. 😡🥴

The setting and the view were beautiful, and the location added a lot to the stay. My room was spacious, very comfortable, and impeccably clean, with the amenities I needed. The food was delicious, with a good range of fresh, flavorful dishes. Most of all, the warm, attentive staff made me feel welcome throughout. Red Hill Hotel exceeded my expectations.
