Orbit88 Hotel by AMR

The cook, Kaushalya, was a real gem. He prepared meals for us without being asked, managed with very limited equipment, and even escorted us on a three-hour drive out of Kandy. We’re truly grateful for everything he did. We’d expected a peaceful stay, but the cyclone left us stranded. Power went out in Kandy after a day. The backup generator kept things going at first, then broke down, and nobody could come to fix it. Through it all, the staff stayed cheerful and helped us with local information, translations, advice, and finding petrol. They made us feel special, and I can’t thank them enough. Once the hotel is fully operational again, I think it’ll be one of the best places to stay. Please visit, it’s absolutely worth it. ❤️

The room we were shown was tiny and old, and the bathroom smelled really bad. We’d booked and paid for a Deluxe King Room for the extra space, but were given a Standard Queen Room instead. When I pointed this out, they said both of their Deluxe King Rooms were occupied. They couldn’t offer us another option, especially not the room we’d reserved. I don’t understand the positive reviews. The place doesn’t seem new or modern, and the location isn’t great. Such a huge disappointment. I can’t recommend it.

The rooms were big, clean, and lovely, and we really enjoyed the restaurant and breakfast. Staff were so friendly and helped us with every problem. We’d never driven a tuktuk before, but they gave us tips and helped us with the covers. For us, it was 5 out of 5 ⭐️

Breakfast was included, tasty, and filling enough to keep us going all day. There’s a lovely view from the top floor, too. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are well cared for, with staff even offering to clean ours while we were out. When we arrived after a long travel day, they greeted us with a cool towel and a drink. Everyone was very friendly, and we were happy with our stay 😊
