Villa Modarawaththa

You really have to stay here to experience it. It's one of the most recommended places in the south.

The staff weren't attentive, the food was terrible, and the pool was small. The rooms were small too and had no air conditioning. I can't think of anything good to say about this place.

I’ve stayed at this seaside villa twice, and it’s the best place to stay in South West Sri Lanka. You can walk to nearby restaurants, and although it’s by the sea, the countryside setting makes the stay even better. Friendly pet rabbits and other wildlife wander around the villa’s land. While you sunbathe by the pool, Wasantha, the gardener and tuc tuc driver, can bring you coconuts from the trees. You can also ask him to take you to Unawatuna or other nearby places. The Stick Fisherman restaurant is the best one within walking distance. Somawathi Home, a nearby orphanage, welcomes visitors who want to donate to the kids. About 6mins by tuc tuc takes you to Nature’s Healing in Habaraduwa, a little village, where you can see Ayurvedic doctor Dr. Tiroshan and his wife Supuli, a yoga teacher.

A beautiful, peaceful spot for nature lovers, with plenty of quiet and privacy for spending the day.
