Sunset Villa

We were glad the family running the place was kind, and their children were sweet as they headed off to school. The woman managing it seemed to be working hard to support everything. Still, seeing a pool being built while basic things like hot water were missing was concerning. I kept wondering why such a big project came before the essentials. We couldn't wait to leave and checked out first thing in the morning. The washroom smelled awful, mosquitoes were a problem, and the net provided was poorly kept and had a strong odor. No one explained how to use it. There was no Wi-Fi or hot water, which was a serious issue with our infant, and we couldn't sleep because a lizard crawled around making noise all night. The property is very remote, so you'll need a tuk-tuk, cab, or your own vehicle to get around. This was one of my most disappointing stays in Sri Lanka, and I wouldn't recommend it for families with young children. A terrible end to our trip.

The villa was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed to rest. The owners were really nice, and the place is quiet and peaceful, away from the busy city. It's about a 20-minute walk to the main road, but people here are amazing. I got a lift pretty easily and often.

We only stayed one night, but it was a lovely place and not too far from the international airport. They also served homemade food at a good price.

The family treated me like a daughter, took me to the beach and temple, and even had a tuk-tuk to pick me up. I taught the kids English and yoga every day, and they made me delicious vegan food from their own garden. This was the best homestay I've had in a year of travel. So peaceful, and just 10 minutes from the airport.
