Wasantha Garden Hotel

Even though I didn’t stay at Wasantha Garden Hotel & Restaurant, the family welcomed me warmly from my first day in Sri Lanka, and we felt like family right away. They’re kind, caring people. I also had a full body massage, the best I’ve ever had, done professionally and in a deeply relaxing way. I’d recommend visiting them at Coconut Beach Bar and getting a massage too. The whole experience was unforgettable. Thank you for making my time in Sri Lanka so special.

We were three friends in the family room, which was spacious, nicely furnished, and very clean. Every bed had a mosquito net, and the air conditioning cooled the large room well. The place is far enough from popular Weligama Beach to be quiet, while Coconut Beach is close by for a peaceful break. There are plenty of restaurants serving tasty local food, and Weligama’s surf beach is only a short tuk-tuk ride away. We surfed there every day, and staff at Wasantha arranged our first lesson when we asked. Everyone was consistently friendly and helpful. The owner even helped us on arrival day. We also had an Ayurvedic massage with Nuwan, arranged so all three of us could have one at the same time. It was great and easy to recommend. We were delighted with the stay and wholeheartedly recommend the accommodation.

The restaurant was the highlight for us. Every meal was full of flavor and made with fresh local ingredients. Wasantha’s warmth and generosity made us feel like family, and he’s truly the heart of this place. The hotel is lovely too. We had an unforgettable stay thanks to his wonderful hospitality. Five stars!

The owners are such a friendly family. They made us feel comfortable and welcome, and taught us a lot about Sri Lanka. We stayed ten days in a spacious, clean room with air conditioning, a fan, and a mosquito net. The bathroom was very clean and had hot water. They cleaned the room and changed the sheets and towels every three days. The location is great, close to the quieter Coconut beach and other surf spots. Lalee arranged a Yala Safari trip at a good price, and Sandaru gave us helpful tips about surf spots and conditions. We also highly recommend getting a massage at the hotel, especially with Sam, who’s a physiotherapist. It was the best massage we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to return.
