At night you can hear the ocean and nature, which is amazing. The location is fantastic, right on quiet, secluded Marakolliya beach. Our room was lovely and had an outdoor garden shower. The waves and current can be strong, but you can walk along to the sea by mangrove chalet restaurant to swim. They let us leave our bags after checkout while we went swimming, and offered room service to clean the room and sweep up the sand. We also got a welcome drink. Some staff were nice. Breakfast was just okay, not the best. The staff weren’t the friendliest or most talkative and didn’t share much information. For example, they didn’t tell us what time breakfast was, or that Sri Lanka breakfast needed to be ordered the day before.

We loved the staff and this place so much that we’ll come back next time we’re in Sri Lanka. The cabana was lovely, the music really chilled, and breakfast was stunning. They were very kind and copied some music to a stick for me. Thank you ever so much!

A really romantic evening, with gentle music and lighting and the sea behind us. The atmosphere was relaxing, with beanbags out front and well spaced tables behind. The staff were super friendly. We had grilled tuna with salad and fries. The portions were big, the flavors were good, and the cocktails were great too. It felt like a sophisticated fine dining evening.

We went out on the lagoon by kayak each morning, exploring right behind the cabanas. It was beautiful and made us feel close to nature. The food was delicious too, especially the Sri Lankan curry, which we highly recommend. My partner and I stayed three nights this week. It really is a paradise if you want a peaceful, idyllic spot in nature, with only the sound of the waves. The staff were helpful, friendly and professional. Manik and Napona were especially brilliant.

The rooms are decent, but you’re really here for the location, and it honestly couldn’t be better. The setting feels like paradise, and the value for money is incredible. It’s a little out of the way, but the calm makes that worthwhile. Mangrove Beach Chalets is essentially the same, with the same location and food menus, but costs 1/5 of the price. Highly recommended!
