Amal Guest house

The host family is lovely, and the place itself is really nice, with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby and the beach not far away. But the booking didn't make it clear that some rooms have A/C and others don't. It was tough without it, and I wouldn't have booked if I'd known. There can be power outages in Sri Lanka that last for several hours, and this place has no backup. We had several outages in one day, each lasting for hours. The water stopped too, so we couldn't even use the bathroom, and they didn't give me water to flush.

The room was spacious, clean, and stayed perfectly cool with just the fan. There was a shared balcony with places to sit, plus a kitchen with cutlery, pots, pans, and a fridge that we could use whenever we liked. We ended up staying at Amal's homestay for our whole two weeks in Mirissa. We'd originally booked three nights, then kept extending, and Amal kindly let us. He and his family were wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions, laundry, and planning the next leg of our journey after Mirissa. We were really grateful. If we pass through again, we'll stay here. Can't recommend it enough. Thank you!

Amal and his beautiful family were always there to help, and their kindness went beyond anything I expected. They became one of my best memories from my trip in Sri Lanka. The guesthouse was fantastic too: the rooms were bright, comfortable, and clean, with A/C and a fan, plus a double shower in the bathroom. Highly recommended.

The beach is right next door, and it’s a great place with a great family. A kitchen is available, and you can rent a scooter or arrange a cab.
