We had a wonderful stay at Calidan with our two girls. The mattresses were huge and so comfortable, and there was hot water in the bathroom. It’s very close to both the beach and restaurants. Just ask if you need anything and they’ll find a way to get it for you. If you want to know whether there are whales, ask them. We probably would’ve stayed for days if we’d had the time. Enjoy your stay!

This place needs a complete renovation, or at the very least a thorough clean. We booked a deluxe double room, but it didn’t feel deluxe at all. Part of the bathroom roof was missing, which my husband joked was meant to be a window. The bathroom door had no handle, the frames were rotten, and the bed made an unbearable noise with even the slightest movement. Everything was dirty. The corridors outside the rooms hadn’t been swept, the dining tablecloths stayed dirty all day, and the common kitchen was in a sorry state. My sister’s family had a family room on the second floor. It looked slightly better, but smelled very damp. They had trouble with the hot water, and then the water suddenly stopped completely. Be careful ordering PickMe transport. The local tuk tuk mafia nearly beat up my sister’s family for coming there. They charge triple the price or more. I’d suggest skipping Mirissa, especially during popular holidays. It gets too busy, and you pay a lot for very little.
