The Panorama Suite had a great view over the private beach, pool, and ocean, with two balconies so there was always somewhere shady to sit. Our Ocean Suite was roomier and had a nice ocean view, though that was all you could see from it. Both were unique in their own way. There are two clean pools, one large and one small, and the water was a good temperature. The palm lined private beach felt peaceful, and a lifeguard kept an eye on us there and by the pool. The hotel is far from things, so you need to book a taxi. We didn't try the spa or other hotel activities. Dinner was great with options for everyone. Breakfast was good too, though it could use some Sri Lankan food. We haven't had lunch yet, so can't comment on that. When we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly and offered a few small drinks. Service was great, although reception was sometimes empty. We've got a few more days here, but the elevator broke down today.

The one snag during our four nights was the Wi-Fi, which barely worked for most of the stay. Apart from that, the place is beautiful and distinctive, with the grounds, rooms, and outdoor spaces all charming and very well cared for. There are two pools and a private beach. Everyone on staff was friendly, attentive, and happy to help. We rented a scooter through the hotel and that went smoothly. The breakfast buffet was tasty and had a good range of dishes.

We arrived around 8pm on the 1st of Februari 2026. The reception lady was unfriendly and a bit bitchy, so it didn't feel like a warm welcome. Our room itself was nice, and the private beach looked beautiful. It rained the next day, and after being out for half an hour we found the whole floor wet. When we asked the same unfriendly receptionist for towels to dry it, she told us to use the bathroom towels. That's not how guests should be treated. After three days we asked for the room to be cleaned. Big mistake. When we came back, my suitcase was open and all our euros, €250, were gone. I'd closed it before leaving and hidden the money in my clothes. Be careful here, lock your suitcase or use the locker. Bring your own drinks too, because they wouldn't serve any at the private beach. I don't usually write bad reviews, only the things I like when hotels ask me to leave one, but too much went wrong here for me to stay quiet. In my opinion it's a 2 star hotel, 3 stars maximum because of the private beach.

We only booked one night at Garton's Cape in Galle and didn't expect much, so it was a pleasant surprise. The property is right by the beach with direct access, and the morning walk along the shore is well worth it. The pool is excellent and has an infinity pool feel. Our triple room had a separate room for the kids, which was a thoughtful touch. The rooms have a lovely heritage style, though the bathroom was quite small and its door creaked. The restaurant was decent and made Jain food for us when we asked, but breakfast choices were somewhat limited.

A lovely place in a great location, with really good food and generally top shelf service. I was a little disappointed that they wouldn't let a friend come up to our room. It would also help to have Coke and water available after restaurant hours. We'd definitely stay again.
