Paradise Beach Club

The beachfront view was lovely, and the pool was kept in good shape. We were here mainly for whale watching, with the departure spot just a five-minute drive away. Our stay was pleasant, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the buffet had delicious food. Such a great experience!

We were five people at Paradise Beach Club Resort in Mirissa for two nights. The spot right by the beach is stunning, and everyone on staff we met was kind and helpful. The Ayurvedic clinic on the top floor was a highlight too, with professional, friendly people and a relaxing experience. The rooms were a letdown for the price. My husband, our four-year-old daughter, and I paid for a double superior room but got a king bed and a single mattress on the floor. The bathroom smelled bad all the time, and the blocked shower drain sent water out from under the toilet, so we asked to switch rooms the next day. Our friends had a leaking toilet and thought their room could have been cleaner. Cleanliness seemed poor across the resort: dusty fans, stained towels and linens, and dirty, old minibars. It gives the impression the cleaners don't have the right equipment. The food was decent, though below what I'd expect from a four-star place. Water wasn't included at buffet meals either, which felt unnecessary at these room rates. There's a lot of potential here because of the location and the lovely staff, but management needs to put more into room upkeep, cleaning, and the small details to make the rates and “superior” experience feel justified.

I only used the place for a sun lounger, so I can't say anything about the rooms or food. For 1000 Sri Lankan rupees per person (E2.41, $3.23), you get a sunbed, towel, Wi-Fi, and access to the outdoor pool or beach. It does seem pretty expensive, and from the reviews it sounds like guests aren't too happy with the hotel rooms. The ones in a separate building by the outdoor pool look nice, though. Hope that helps :)

The pool and bar were great, and the beach is right outside, with Mirissa's shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, though the food was sometimes a bit cold. The drinks are made upstairs, so staff have to carry them down to the pool, which slows service. Having everything set up at the pool bar would help. A night bar by the ocean would be a nice addition too. The employees were very friendly, and it's one of the better places for a beach holiday.
