Splendid Lodge

We stayed here 1,5 years ago and really loved it. The family was amazing, and the owner even helped us fix a flat tire on our tuktuk. I'm writing a blog article about Mirissa now and wanted to mention our stay, but I think the name has changed to Temple tree. I can't find Splendid Lodge on any booking platform anymore. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The location right on the main street isn't very attractive, though the noise stayed low. The bus stop, ATM, and a few small shops are close by, and the beach is about a five-minute walk. It was off season and the hotel was almost empty. The room was fine, and the hosting family were friendly and very helpful.

We had a quiet night's sleep even though the place is near the main road. The rooms sit in a lovely garden at the back, so you don't hear any noise. Our hosts were extremely kind and welcoming. We spent two days here and it was worth it. Thanks for making our time in Mirissa such a great experience.

The garden is beautifully kept, clean, and well organized, and once you're through the entrance it's hard to believe the lodge is right by the main road because it's so quiet. Danesh and his wife run this family lodge and are courteous, very friendly hosts who make you feel at home. Ask them if you'd like to try some lovely Sri Lankan tea, and if you need anything, just ask. We found them super helpful, and I'm sure Danesh would be happy to take food orders too. My room was neat, clean, comfortable, and had all the basics I needed. The bed was clean and firm, with a canopy and mosquito net. There was a dresser and towel rack, and the toilet was large and clean. The room had an A/C unit for the warm weather, though we hardly needed it when we visited Mirissa in January, during the cooler weather. Free WiFi worked excellently. Mirissa beach is a 4-5 minute walk away. For whale watching, the dock where boats depart is about a 20 min walk or a 5-8 minute tuk tuk ride. There are also plenty of places to eat nearby. We were impressed and would recommend this peaceful, secluded, and safe-feeling stay in Mirissa.
