Ayubowan Guesthouse

My family and friends have stayed at Ayobewan guesthouse for years, but this was my first visit. It’s a lovely, peaceful spot to rest while still being near the beach, hotels, and restaurants. Breakfast was lovely, with a choice of styles and very generous portions. Ron and Brenda were friendly and welcoming, and helped with useful local advice and recommendations.

The owners made this stay special. They were so accommodating, helping with transfers, arranging a tuk-tuk when I left, and even offering a late breakfast after I arrived very late. Saying goodbye felt like leaving old friends, and I hope to see them again. It’s a charming, warm guesthouse with everything I needed. The garden and pool were lovely, and the pool was a lifesaver in the hot, humid weather. Breakfast on the veranda was great, especially some of the best scrambled eggs I’ve had. The bed was comfortable, water pressure was good, and everything was sparkling clean. There’s tea and coffee and pool towels, and I’m sure the owners would help with anything else. I had an amazing stay and will definitely come back when I’m in the area.

The English hosts, Ron & Brenda, have been doing this for 20 years, and they’ve thought of everything. They’re available when you need them without getting in your way. The rooms are spacious, with air con and a roof fan, the pool is cleaned every morning, and the staff are friendly and amenable. Breakfast has lots of choices, just let them know what you need. You can also request dinner or sandwiches. There’s an upstairs mini bar with beers, ice, soft drinks, and snacks. Bedding and towels are changed daily, and everything is super clean and relaxing. Airport pickup and drop-off are available, and Ron can connect you with a local tour agency to plan more of Sri Lanka. Ayubowan means 'Long Life', pronounced Ayu - bo - wan. 10 out of 10, highly recommended.

A cozy spot for your first days in Sri Lanka. The owners are very friendly and have helpful trip tips. They can organize airport transfers and onward travel too. Breakfast is really good. Absolutely recommend.
