Choy's Waterfront Residence

I really liked the view from room 404, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The seafood and pastries were great. There isn’t much to do in Negombo, so I was glad the hotel stay itself was so lovely.

The room was clean and good value, with air conditioning, a TV, tea and coffee making facilities, towels, shower gel, shampoo, and a hair dryer. Some parts of the hotel were still being refurbished, but should look great once finished. The hotel is at the top of the lagoon, with views of the fishing boats and St Mary's church. We booked four double rooms at the last minute for an airport transfer, two for one night and two for two nights. Check-in was helpful, and we got a welcome drink made with watermelon. Staff carried everyone’s bags up several flights. There’s no elevator, so this might be difficult for anyone with walking problems. Dinner portions were huge, with excellent flavours and quality. Sharing might be better than wasting food, though you can take leftovers away. Only two of us had breakfast, and it just kept coming: juice, tea or coffee, eggs of your choice, bratwurst sausage, tomatoes, fries, toast with butter and jam, and a muffin. It was good value at Rp2000. Thanks to Ranjika for arranging breakfast and airport taxis for our group that morning, and for helping me connect to the different wi-fi networks available on each floor.

Not worth the money at all. After we’d waited half an hour and filled out the forms, they raised the price from what they’d first quoted. The management and staff were unprofessional and kept changing the conditions, leaving customers confused. It felt like they were extorting money from us.

The location is awesome, and the people were really kind. Such a beautiful hotel. Highly recommend it!
