Oasis Beach Negombo

We enjoyed the breakfast and had a pleasant stay. The room was spacious, with lovely interior details that made it feel both modern and cozy. One small thing: coffee was brought by default instead of asking whether we wanted tea or coffee. When we later asked for tea, we were charged extra. It wasn’t a big deal, but a heads-up beforehand would’ve been nice. We’d definitely consider coming back.

It’s very central in Negombo Beach, and the rooms are finished to a high standard. The mattress was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. Fish and Chips downstairs is good too. The shower needs a curtain or glass panel, though, since it’s easy to flood the bathroom. It costs more than similar hotels with pools, but we may have slept better here.

The hotel is quite near the main tourist areas, with some good restaurants and shops close by. We stayed one night, and for what we paid the service was exceptional. The staff responded quickly, and the room was fairly clean.

Our booking was cancelled the evening before we were due to leave, despite having reserved two to three weeks earlier. They gave no explanation, and by then hotel rates elsewhere had doubled. I’ve never had this happen before. The reports about alcohol in earlier reviews seem accurate. The people running what used to be a hostel don’t seem to be operating a hotel, but some other kind of place. We were extremely disappointed. Don’t trust the Agoda reviews like we did.
