Pledge Scape Negombo

The beachfront spot was the best part of our one-night stop at Pledge Scape Negombo, before we continued our tour. We had time for a walk on the sand before leaving, and the room's direct beach view made for a lovely first morning in Sri Lanka. It was spacious, too. After our delayed flight, we got in late, but the welcome was warm and check-in was fast, which we appreciated after the long trip. Breakfast was simple and pleasant, with a limited choice and nothing particularly memorable, though fine for a night. There were lots of mosquitoes around, probably because of the beach setting, so come prepared. The AC worked, but its noise disturbed the night. Leaving was awkward. Staff asked us to wait at reception while they checked the room, and after about 15 minutes without an explanation I went to the car. Someone then said we had to stay because they were about to inspect it. When I asked what for, he couldn't say. That felt strange and unnecessary.

I visited Pledge Scape Negombo with friends, and this is a late review I still wanted to share. The beachfront setting and ocean views were lovely, and it's a relaxing place for a seaside break. Our rooms were roomy, with large bathrooms, solid air conditioning, and a great beach view. We also enjoyed the restaurant. The lunch and dinner dishes were fresh, nicely prepared and presented, and the dining area felt inviting. Staff were helpful and friendly, though the service could be better overall. A lovely hotel for a restful stay by the sea, with good food and spacious rooms. Recommended. 4 / 5 stars

Imadh gave me a very warm welcome, and the staff were generally service-minded. My room was lovely, in good shape, and had a nice sea view, but the cleaning during my stay was poor. They only made the bed and sprayed perfume, without really cleaning. The guest lift was broken and apparently had been for quite a while, while the pool bar was shut. Breakfast was okay, but lunch took more than an hour to arrive.

The staff were good, and the rooms were fine for our first night of a ten-day tour with three people. Breakfast was okay, though we'd spent a couple of days in Negombo before the tour and the food at that other hotel was better. The main lift was down, and the service lift was out back, beyond the kitchen, so we climbed to the third floor, five flights of stairs. It did the job for an overnight stay, but ...
