They looked after me so well when I arrived unexpectedly before check-in because of the cyclone. The hosts welcomed me warmly, made me a delicious dinner at a low price, and drove me to the airport at night. I'm very grateful, thank you!

Chelli Homestay made the stay memorable. The room and surroundings were fantastic, and the family were so kind and welcoming that we felt at home with them. Thank you.

We'd booked through booking.com and paid the required amount by card in advance. Nothing on the booking page said the property only accepted foreigners, and we had entered our nationality when making the booking. If the owner didn't want local guests, he could have seen that with the booking and payment and cancelled then. When we arrived, the owner shouted abusive words at me, came toward me aggressively and almost attacked me, then told us to leave because they don't accommodate locals. I can't understand how someone in the service industry could respond that way. As a Sri Lankan, it was awful to be treated like this by someone towards his own local guests. We didn't actually need to stay. My mother-in-law only wanted to change her clothes before we left, and I explained that we could do that and go since we'd already booked and paid. I said that if he had such a policy, at least let us change and leave. He continued shouting and approaching aggressively. This was the worst customer service experience I've had at a property.

The rooms are big and nice, the place feels familiar and peaceful, and I love the neatly ironed cotton sheets. The balcony views are nice too. The beach and downtown are a little far, which is the only thing I didn't like. My Italian friends stayed here last December and recommended it to me, and I'd recommend it too.

Roshan and his family were lovely hosts, and their beautiful house was a great place to stay. Their kindness and hospitality made it even better.
