The owner even came along to a nearby garage when I ran into trouble with my vehicle, and was incredibly welcoming and helpful. I only stayed one night, but it was a great experience. My room was spacious, neat, and clean, with everything I needed, including ice-cold AC, hot water, and a TV. Breakfast was excellent too. I’d happily recommend this place.

Our family’s April stay at Woodnest - Summerside Hotel, Negombo was a real letdown. The kitchen, bathrooms, and rooms were dirty and poorly maintained, and didn’t meet basic hygiene standards. We also found some room lights weren’t working. The family room was very hot because the AC didn’t work, and neither did the TV, despite the hotel promising both. We complained several times and were told someone would come fix the AC, but nobody ever did. Water in the bathroom came out extremely slowly, which made showering and using the washroom difficult. Service was poor throughout. Staff were often unhelpful or hard to find, and basic requests were delayed or ignored. We expected better for a special family trip. My whole family was disappointed, and we won’t stay here again or recommend it. Management needs to improve the service, cleanliness, and honesty about what the hotel provides.

We stayed for one night and found it budget-friendly. The hotel is a little way in from the main road, so you’ll need a tuk-tuk to get there.

The staff were friendly and tried to help, and breakfast was quite good. But the rooms we ended up using at Woodnest - Rustic were missing a lot of basics. There was no soap or toothpaste, no bed sheets, no room keys, and the TV didn’t work. The place also had no swimming pool. I’d booked two rooms at Summerside Residence for mid April 2025. When we arrived, they said only one was available, and only after I questioned it did they realize I’d booked two. They then arranged two rooms at their sister property, Woodnest - Rustic, about 50 meters away. Those rooms were spacious and had attached bathrooms. The staff did their best to make up for the problems, but management should communicate better and provide basic guest necessities.
