Sujeewani Villa

A great hotel for families, in a lovely location with the beach and restaurants within walking distance. The garden is beautiful, and after a long journey the pool was very welcome, though it was quite slippery. Breakfast was extensive and tasty, with fruit yogurt, eggs, and delicious toast. There were lots of mosquitoes in the room, and a few bathrooms looked a bit dated.

The villa is pleasant and helpful as a place to start or end a trip, and we've stayed here twice. The garden and pool are beautiful, Negombo Beach is nearby, and there are lots of restaurants around. Try the optional breakfast for its variety of fruit and homemade mango juice from a tree in the garden. I still recommend the place, but do watch the bill. As with other hotels in Sri Lanka, you'll need to pay cash on arrival. Both times we came with a Booking reservation, the owner tried to charge about 10% extra for the room. The first time, just after we landed in Sri Lanka, we complained and he immediately recalculated it at the correct amount. The second time, before heading home, we stayed just one night and it wasn't a big deal.

We ate nearly all our meals at the hotel because the food was better than anything we tried in town, and we were never disappointed. It's a small place away from Negombo traffic, so it never felt crowded. The views over the pool are spectacular, the rooms and bathrooms are spacious, and the staff were courteous and attentive. We also found the apartment very clean, with friendly, kind hosts who went out of their way to make our stay memorable. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

A great base for a few days. The room was spacious, with plenty of kitchen space and an enclosed garden to enjoy. The pool was clean and a good temperature. The staff were incredibly friendly, always greeting us and making us feel welcome. We had a brilliant stay!
