Goldi Sands Hotel

They organized the wedding beautifully, with everything handled well from start to finish. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Goldi Sands Hotel, Negombo faces the beach, making it a lovely setting for a special occasion. Highly recommended for weddings and events.

We spent two weeks here and had a standard sea view room with a huge patio or balcony. It's right on the beach, with bars and restaurants nearby, and the location is convenient for the airport as well as Colombo and inland excursions. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner buffets had a good selection. My only slight complaint is the themed dinner nights, like Italian, European, or Chinese. That's not what we go to Sri Lanka for, though Sri Lankan food was still available. Highly recommended.

Goldi Sands is comfortable enough if you're not expecting a 5-star hotel, and it sits on a nice beach in a good location. But it's run-down overall, and the rooms, while comfortable, need better maintenance. The pool area was okay, though there was plenty of trash around and staff walked past it. Service varied: some staff were great, while quite a few seemed to lack basic service training. This was the last two nights of our 14 day Private Ultimate Sri Lanka tour from Inspiring Vacations. The package promised “13 nights in 5-star hotels”. We stayed at other Sri Lankan hotels during the previous 11 nights, where the food, including some amazing curries, was excellent. At Goldi Sands, our included breakfast and dinner were very poor by comparison, a disappointing end to the tour. Although the hotel is well placed on the beach, it's a long way from five-star standard. We tried contacting Inspiring Vacations because they misrepresented what was included, but they keep saying they'll get back to us and then don't. If you're touring Sri Lanka, I'd avoid Inspiring Vacations because they promise five-star hotels and don't deliver. If you expect a five-star stay in Negombo, don't choose Goldi Sands. Otherwise, it's perfectly comfortable.

The staff were amazing and the views beautiful. It's also close to some really nice tourist spots, which is super convenient. Highly recommend this hotel.
