Tropical Villas

The beach is only about a 15-minute walk, and you can borrow the hotel bikes for free if you'd rather ride. We arrived in the middle of the night and they picked us up and took us to the villa, with our bed already made and ready. The room was spacious, the bed really comfortable, and the a/c worked well. There’s also a pool and a great lounge room. The staff were so friendly and helpful. For such a luxurious guesthouse, it’s surprisingly cheap. Amazing value.

A really pleasant place to spend your first night after arriving in Negombo. We got in late and stayed until lunchtime before heading on. The host looked after everything we needed, and we had a lovely morning swim followed by a free bike ride to the local beach area.

The care here really stood out compared with the many places we stayed during our 30 days in Sri Lanka. We originally had trouble with another hotel booking, and Victor and his team were kind enough to help us sort things out. They offered us a drink, internet, and a cool place to wait, without trying to persuade us to stay there. We ended up moving in and were sorry we couldn't stay longer. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with a lovely bathroom and shower, TV, fridge, and A/C. The pool had plenty of seats and sun beds, and there was a patio for eating. Water, tea, coffee, and snacks were available, along with a small hot food menu on request and a trust fridge. Breakfast was included and had lots of choice. There was a useful booklet with hotel and local information, plus a phone for local calls. We used it to order takeaway, and the menus and details made that easy. They also list local transport numbers and prices, which is handy for tuk tuks. You can borrow push bikes, and there are security gates and a guard. It was nice and quiet at night. The room, pool, food, and all those little practical touches made this easily the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. I'd happily come back. Thank you so much, Tropical Villas!

The bikes made it easy to get to the beach and good restaurants in just a few minutes, and Markus served a delicious breakfast with a great mix of Sri Lankan and continental food. After three weeks travelling around Sri Lanka, we spent our last two nights at Tropical Villas and enjoyed them a lot. The garden and pool were lovely and relaxing, the rooms were comfortable, and we really felt at home. Everyone was kind and did their best to make us feel welcome.
