Villa Sarakkuwa

The pool area looking out over the lagoon made Villa Sarakuwa feel like a gem. We could watch fish from the veranda while eating a delicious, nicely presented breakfast. When we arrived late in the evening for our very first night in Sri Lanka, we were warmly welcomed with coffee and tea and enjoyed it in the garden. A wonderful start to our trip through Sri Lanka! We were there from December 6th-7th, 2025.

We were five and booked two rooms in the main building. There are only a few rooms in total, and ours were clean and comfortable. The pool and sun loungers were our favorite part, especially since we could swim around midnight and the staff let us relax by the pool until they closed the house at about 1 AM. The place is right by the seaside and about 20-25 minutes by car from the city. Breakfast was great: omelettes, fresh fruit, different breads and pancakes. We arrived very early in the morning and, since we were exhausted from the flight, asked about getting into one room before check-in. They offered it to us for half price, which we appreciated. The staff were polite and helpful, especially one gentleman who helped arrange transportation. The showerhead meant the shower could have been better, but it wasn’t a serious issue. We enjoyed our stay and thank the team for their hospitality. It was our first night in Sri Lanka.

We’d have stayed forever if we could. The two hosts were lovely and friendly, and clearly seemed to love the place too. We had spectacular breakfasts on both days, and on the first day they even made us a special milk rice dish and cake for our honeymoon. The pool was such a lovely temperature that we went for morning and evening swims. One morning we had trouble ordering a taxi to the villa, but one of the hosts found one to take us into town. Getting back by tuk tuk from the center was easy. Absolutely fabulous stay, and we’d return at the first opportunity. Thank you for such a beautiful start to our honeymoon 💞

The garden and pool are lovely, and the quiet was welcome before our long flight. This is a good guesthouse option near the airport. The room is simple but has all the necessities. The bathroom could have been cleaner, and there was no water pressure at all in the shower, even with cold water, so I couldn’t wash my hair. It’s in a rural location with nothing around.
