Moon Isle Beach Bunglow

We came back to Moon Isle the next day after a fantastic dinner there. The seafood platter was generous and delicious, and the hot butter calamari went perfectly with my Lion lager. At lunch we had excellent margaritas, the best crab curry and baked crab, plus another serving of that calamari. We spent five splendid hours there that afternoon. We weren’t staying at Moon Isle, but a friend had told us about the restaurant, so we chose it over the buffet dinner included at our hotel. Great choice. When I return to Nilaveli, I’ll definitely stay and eat at Moon Isle. Many thanks to Umesh and the staff for such superb service!

It’s more of a homestead than a hotel, and the view from our bed was pretty special. Breakfast is included, and they make scrumptious seafood platters. There’s a bar, the food is reasonably priced, and the staff are happy to help with anything.

The owner, Amanda, is an angel, and the place feels like a little oasis. We loved its laid-back mood and beautiful beach setting. The hospitality felt like a real taste of Sri Lanka. Everything was top notch, a must while in Trinco.

The newly done-up Deluxe Room felt worth more than a 2-star rating, I’d give it 4 stars. The spot is superb, with a gorgeous quiet, private beach, friendly staff, and a great restaurant and beach bar. The pina coladas, seafood, and kottu were delicious, and you can eat with your feet in the sand. You can arrange snorkeling trips to Pigeon Island and Angel Rock from their beach with their own operator, or scuba dive next door. I’ll come back to spend more time here. Thanks for a memorable stay!
