Oak Ray Misty Hills Hotel

The price was reasonable, and the spacious, comfortable rooms make Windsor Hotel a decent budget option in a good location. It’s in an old building, and there’s a large parking area that’s handy if you’re driving. I was disappointed there were no tea or coffee-making facilities in the room, and the restaurant and bar were closed during my visit. The bathroom felt dated and needs significant improvement.

The hotel is in a very good location, and the room was large, but there wasn’t much in it, not even a desk. Its best feature was the water, with the steadiest temperature and strongest pressure of any hotel I stayed at in Sri Lanka. The bathroom was covered in mold, seemingly from poor ventilation. When I opened the window to clear the steam, insects came in. The place has clearly seen better days and needs a major revamp. Otherwise, it was just okay.

For the price, this is excellent value in a prime central spot in Nuwara Eliya. It’s an older hotel, but charming and well maintained. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, and there’s hot water in the shower and sink. They also thoughtfully leave a thermos of warm water in the room. Service was friendly and reliable 🫶🏻😇.

The staff were kind and wonderful, and we were comfortable in our clean room with fresh linen. For a small daily fee, we could get heaters, which made the room cozy. The hot shower was excellent, and there’s a lovely piano and chill-out hall. A few things need attention: the toilet was grubby and the water gully area was a real turn-off. There should be a light outside the toilet and above the cupboard. The TV was very small and hard to see from the bed, which was quite far away. The hotel entrance needs cleaning up too.
