Queens Lake Cabin

We had a cozy two-night stay with our two children, and the staff were really friendly and did their best to meet our needs. We stayed on the upper deck, with the kids on the lower one. Having a bathroom upstairs was a plus. There’s a balcony on the upper deck and a terrace on the lower deck. The rooms felt a bit cold in the weather, but the portable heaters kept them warm. Breakfast is made to order rather than served as a buffet, so it took a little while. We didn’t mind much, since it seemed freshly prepared. There’s no safe in the room and no elevator. I felt bad for the staff carrying our luggage up to the third floor. I’d call it a 3-3.5 star hotel, but we certainly enjoyed it. It felt like a homey local mom-and-pop business. The hotel is beside the lake in a very quiet area. It was a little tricky to find the entrance while driving, so make sure you don’t miss it.

The setting was lovely, and we had a great time as a family. The staff were friendly and always ready to help, and the location was amazing. The breakfast buffet needs more variety, though, and the building is due for a fresh coat of paint and some repairs. Even so, I’d be happy to stay here again.

The room was beautiful, with a scenic view of Gregory Lake, and the bed and linens were clean and very comfortable. But the bathroom wasn’t cleaned well and had an unpleasant smell, possibly from poor ventilation. There was no exhaust fan, the shower drain was blocked, and basic items like toiletries, an iron, and a hair dryer weren’t provided. Strong gusts of wind also made it hard to relax. The staff deserve five stars for being so friendly and willing to help. The facilities, though, felt closer to two or three stars than five. Since the hotel is advertised as a five-star property, I expected that standard for the price I paid and was quite disappointed. The misleading five-star claim was the most disappointing part.

The food was delicious, with plenty of choices, and our room was comfortable and well kept. We also loved the beautiful, peaceful surroundings, which made it easy to relax. A wonderful stay, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet getaway.
