The food was delicious, especially the meals prepared by chef Bandula, and all the other staff were helpful. Mr Manushanka, the manager, was particularly welcoming and always ready to help. My family and I stayed at this lovely bungalow on November 22nd. We liked the location, surroundings, facilities, and service, and I’m planning a longer stay next time. I’d definitely recommend it.

Mr Manushanka and the staff were warm and friendly, and the chef made delicious dishes with herbs and plants from the garden, giving the food a distinctive aroma and flavor. It’s a lovely heritage bungalow with all the facilities, in a great spot for a relaxing stay. We’ll definitely come back.

The location is beautiful and peaceful, and the manager and staff were excellent. I have no complaints about their service. We stayed two nights, our second time at a Thema Collection property. Booking.com was full of 10-star reviews, which is why we chose it, but I’d put this at about 7 to 7.5 out of 10. I gave it four stars because three felt too low. The road in was damaged and not passable by car, so you need an SUV or van. The hotel can arrange transport at no charge. I didn’t mind that, and a rough road can be part of the experience. Our suite was very spacious, though it felt average and could make better use of the space. I expected at least a hot tub in a suite, but there wasn’t one. Food was the main issue. Like at the Tea Experience Center, there was no à la carte menu to choose from. I understand a four-room bungalow can’t offer a buffet, but guests should have a menu. Instead, they asked what we wanted and suggested biriyani, roti, and rice, things we eat every day. When we were asked, we didn’t know what else might be available, which was uncomfortable. The food was better than at the Tea Experience Center, though some dishes, including fried rice and biriyani, weren’t great. Western dishes and soups were excellent, and I think management should put together a proper menu. The sauna was alright. There was also a jacuzzi, but despite the hot water it cooled down within seconds. I’m not sure why; perhaps the room’s door wasn’t proper. I’ve used hot pools and jacuzzis at several hotels in Nuwara Eliya without this happening, so I don’t think the climate explains it. Apart from those points, it’s a beautiful bungalow, and these are just constructive comments.

Our guests also had a lovely stay at Scottish Planter in Nuwara Eliya. The peaceful setting, comfortable cozy rooms, excellent food, and warm service made it memorable. At Beyond the Ocean Travel, we’re delighted to help create such special travel experiences.

Chef Bandula’s cooking was a highlight. He uses herbs from the garden to create carefully prepared dishes with wonderful authentic flavors. The homemade marmalade and the chicken and fish dishes with their sauces were unforgettable. Kapila, Duminda, and Mohan also made our stay special, and manager Manusanka and his team made us feel at home. The Scottish style colonial bungalow is in a beautiful location, with well kept, cozy rooms and warm, friendly hospitality. We had a great stay!
