See Lake Resort

The drive up the steep mountain road made me nervous every time, and the wind seemed to rush through the room. There was no heating, no shampoo or other necessities, and no room cleaning. My daughter's extra bed was just a mattress. Very poor. The only thing the hotel did well was provide a basic breakfast. Needs improvement.

For $200 a night, this wasn't worth it. The rooms felt shabby, the furniture seemed to be from the 60s, and the old carpet smelled. The paint job was poor, the TV channels didn't work, and the TV itself was about the size of a laptop screen. Some rooms don't have a view. Since we're originally from Sri Lanka, they first showed us a very bad room. After we showed our passport and complained that it didn't feel like a four-star hotel, they moved us to a slightly better room overlooking Gregory lake. We were very unhappy with the stay, which felt more like a two-star motel.

The view was great, and our room was nice and clean. Breakfast service was good too, and they even packed something for us to take on our early morning hike. We were next to reception, though, and it got very noisy when people were staying above us.

Mr Gayan and his team made us feel at home at See Lake Resort, and even arranged a ride to the train station on our last day. We loved the food, especially breakfast. The resort is in a great spot overlooking the Nuwara Eliya lake, with stunning views. It was one of our better stays in Sri Lanka, and we can only recommend it.
