Mrs. Harsha cooked a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast with care, and both she and Mr. Asela did their best to keep us happy and comfortable. The family suite had two connecting rooms, and the beds were comfortable with good bed pullovers. The weather and surroundings were the best parts, and Pizza hut, Dominos and Keeels are within walking distance. The bathroom is compact, so taking a comfortable shower was difficult, and although hot water was available, the pressure was very low. The access road is rough, and a low-clearance car like a Prius can't make it up. Mr. Asela kindly picked us up from the main road in his SUV. Reaching the place could be difficult in rain, and the road connecting it is dark at night.

The owner put so much care into this place, and it showed in the lovely service and delicious local breakfast. We really enjoyed chatting with him. The bungalow itself was incredibly cosy, with old, authentic furniture and a building that felt very British and gave me a homely feeling. As a couple, this was our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka. It has so much charm, and I’d definitely come back.

The veranda opens right onto a beautiful view of the nearby hills. We stayed in March 2025 with our family and booked two rooms. Mr. Asela and his wife were warm and welcoming, and Asela gave us a complimentary ride to and from the nearby railway station. We also really enjoyed the hygienic, tasty homemade food. It was a great way to try local flavours, and I’d love to return if I get the chance.

The breakfasts were delicious every day, and Mr Asel is an amazing cook. He’s also kept Shireen house in its original glory, and hearing the stories behind this beautiful piece of history was a real pleasure. Our family made some wonderful memories here. The host was so warm and welcoming that we’d visit again and again. Glory days to Shireen house.

The included breakfast was great, and the owners were lovely and always helpful. I stayed here in January 2026, and this was honestly one of my favourite places to stay in Sri Lanka. It felt so homely, and you can walk to everywhere in Nuwara Eliya you'd want to go.
