St. Anne Holiday Bungalow

The house has a lovely view of the lake, and Gregory lake/park is an easy walk away. It worked well for our group of about 20 people, spread across five families. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they made delicious meals. There’s also a BBQ machine available.

We booked by phone, but on arrival found the rooms really dirty and left to find somewhere else in Nuwara Eliya. The owners insisted we pay for the full night before going, so we paid for one night across three rooms even though we stayed only briefly. The pictures Google showed us were from when the place was being built years ago. If you’re considering staying here, ask for a video call first and check the rooms, so you don’t rely on old photos. This was the worst experience for me. If zero stars were possible, that’s what I’d give.

Mallika deserves a special mention. She was an amazing caretaker, kept the place in perfect shape, and the host and her family were happy to make our stay comfortable and convenient. We stayed in the ground floor apartment at St.Anne Holiday Bungalow, facing Gregory lake in the heart of Nuwara-Eliya. It was ours to ourselves and suited 4-5 people, with one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. The drawback was having to share the only bathroom. There are two access roads, and Google Maps hadn’t been updated with the easier one, so call the host when you reach Nuwara-Eliya.

The scenery is wonderful, and the price is affordable. It’s a good choice for a family wanting freedom and a special atmosphere. There are two rooms and a kitchen, plus a spacious parlour, well separated from the rest of the house so you won’t be disturbed.
