The Clovelly Bungalow

The bungalow's bedroom, living room, and garden are beautiful, and the view is amazing. It's part of the Golden Ridge Hotel, though the service seemed lacking, perhaps because the bungalow is detached from the main hotel. We had to call five times and wait three hours to get something from housekeeping.

The staff really went out of their way for us. Ayisha at the restaurant was warm and professional, and the food choices were fantastic. They prepared the outdoor jacuzzi and lit the wood fires in the drawing room, which made our stay at the Clovelly Bungalow special. It's a lovely British colonial building, with spacious rooms, a carefully maintained interior, historic architecture, and manicured gardens. A larger modern hotel has been built around it and incorporated it, but that didn't bother us. We enjoyed using its indoor infinity pool and restaurant. The service stood out as better than at any other hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka. I'd highly recommend it.

Anthony gave great service, and the location is lovely. The room facilities were above average, and the BBQ they arranged for one night was good too. There's also a garden Jacuzzi, though it needs some repairs now. We had a problem with a couple of meals, and hotel management didn't address it properly. I hope they'll take steps to fix that. Aside from those meals, our stay was fine.

The bungalow was gorgeous, and we had the whole house to ourselves with just one other guest. It was lovely to have that space along with the attached hotel's 5-star amenities, and the pool had a great view. The staff made everything easy. Delukah at the front desk and everyone else were so accommodating. Ayesha in the restaurant arranged early a la carte lunches when the restaurant wasn't open. The food was amazing, and the buffet was delicious too. They lit fires in the bungalow, got the hot tub ready, helped when I locked myself out, and came back to relight the fire after it went out.
