The Queensburry City Hotel

We had a pleasant experience at Queensbury city hotel. The reception staff were genuinely warm and accommodating, and the rooms had charming interiors. They were spacious and well maintained, and the whole place felt comfortable and welcoming. I recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a reliable, comfortable stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Don’t go here, even if they offer you a free stay. We stayed on May 31 and Jun 1 2026, and it was our worst stay. The rooms weren’t clean. Birds on the roof made constant noise and disturbed our sleep. There was no hot water in the morning, and even after we complained, it took an hour to fix. The food was awful, not one dish was good, and the omelet smelled bad. There was no TV remote, so we had to go over to the TV every time to turn it on or off.

There was loud partying in other guests’ rooms at night, so sleeping was impossible. No reception or staff were available to handle complaints. This was a terrible stay, completely unprofessional and unacceptable for an accommodation. I’d strongly advise avoiding the property.

The hotel, reception, and staff were good, but the restaurant chef was extremely rude. We were rushing to catch the train and had arranged early breakfast with the front office manager for 6.30am. We only got into the restaurant at 7.05, started eating, and the chef rudely slammed the food tray shut without any politeness. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you’re planning to take a train downhill.
