Yakaduru - Yala

We spent three nights at yakkaduru yala and did two full days of safari. The resort has a cool, cosy feel and a typical local design. The staff were amazing, friendly, attentive and helpful, with a well-organized way of working. Special thanks to Moorthy for doing such a great job. The safaris were well planned. Staff brought breakfast, lunch and drinks, and our driver Amile was fantastic. He knows where the animals are and how they behave, and did everything possible to show us as many as he could. He was also kind and attentive to anything we needed. A special thanks to him as well! We’d fully recommend staying here and going on safari. Guests have priority access to the park because the resort is in the buffer area.

The safari was a real highlight. Booking it through the camp made everything smooth, including quick park entry, and our motivated, knowledgeable driver and guide helped us spot leopards. We’d happily stay at Yakaduru Safari Camp again. The food was excellent throughout, full of flavor and very well prepared. The staff were warm and attentive, and it was clear they take pride in looking after guests. Our accommodation was fantastic for being close to nature. There’s no air conditioning, by design, as part of the camp’s nature-connected feel. That suited us perfectly.

We felt at home right away, especially because the staff were so kind with our four-year-old son and took such loving care of him. The evening cultural dance was another lovely memory. Our room was stylish and very clean, and the private plunge pool was great for cooling off after the safari. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and the food overall was outstanding. The safari itself was excellent, with a careful, attentive, knowledgeable driver. Yakaduru Yala Camp was one of the highlights of our trip. We enjoyed every moment and would gladly return.

At night, the camp felt peaceful and almost magical beneath a clear sky full of more stars than I’ve ever seen. It was a unique experience I won’t forget. Earlier, Nishantha led us on a jungle tour and explained the wildlife around the camp. Seeing crocodiles, peacocks, and so many kinds of birds nearby was a surprise. We finished on a huge rock overlooking the jungle, with a stunning sunset view. Everyone on staff was kind and attentive, though I can’t name them all. Moorthy’s warmth and genuine care made us feel at home and added so much to our stay.
