Samalanka Boutique Hotel

After three weeks of traveling around Sri Lanka, we finally found the perfect place. This was easily the best stay of our whole trip. The room was charming, beautifully designed, and so comfortable. The view was breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere gave us a chance to relax in a way that’s hard to find elsewhere. The shower was a real bonus, with endless hot water that didn’t run out after a few minutes. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. The team were gentle and kind, and went out of their way to help with anything we needed. The owner is a lovely man who wants you to have a relaxed, wonderful time. Thank you so much. There’s no doubt we’ll come back.

Be careful with this hotel. A week before we were due to arrive, they asked us to cancel our booking or “downgrade” because of “emergency renovations” allegedly planned after the current guests leave, in about six days. They also weren’t willing to help us find alternative accommodation with the same standards. Very unreliable for a boutique hotel in this price range.

The quiet mornings, birdsong, and pool views made it easy to slow down at Samalanka Boutique Hotel. We came for four days and ended up staying a whole week. Our room was spotless and comfortable, a great place to unwind after exploring, and the staff made us feel at home. Breakfast came with excellent coffee, and they made sure we were well fed afterward too. Koggala beach and its restaurant are about a 10 minute drive away. The team can also arrange dinner from a particular restaurant, set out at a table in the living room. It’s a new hotel tucked away from the busy main road in the South Province. Lovely food, modern comforts, and beautiful views. We’d absolutely come back.

Malin, the manager, was so kind and helpful throughout our week at Samalanka Boutique Hotel. We couldn’t have been happier with the stay, and every part of it went beyond what we expected. Don’t pass up the chance to find this hidden gem. We’d have regretted missing it.
