Bedda Eco Cottages

The cabin sits right by the river and has a distinctive build, with nature walks nearby. We spent one night here, and it was quiet in both the morning and evening. Food was fine, though the choices were very limited, much like in the village. The showers were hot once ☺️. For the price, it doesn’t feel fully luxurious, so I’d say it suits a stopover better than a longer stay. No major complaints.

The traditional Sri Lankan food was a highlight, especially the rice and curry, which was the tastiest we’ve had. Bedda Eco Resort is a peaceful, secluded place to get away from everyday noise and stress, with lovely views of the Nilwala River. We had a really relaxing three-day stay. The cottages are simple but comfortable, and the two villas can each accommodate 4-6 adults, so it works well for a small group or family. Don’t come expecting luxury or Western-style meals. For quiet, good food, and a stay close to nature, it’s worth the price. Highly recommended!

There are plenty of hikes and waterfall trips around, and we’d definitely come back. We had a lovely stay, and the host was friendly and very helpful. We also appreciated being able to leave our bags at his place after check-in.

The river facing cottages have a comfortable bench where you can sit with a cup of tea and watch the water go by. Even though the place is only meters from the road, it’s calm and quiet, with just the river and birds to hear. The hotel manger was very friendly and gave us awesome service. Meals were excellent, with curries typical of the southern Sri Lankan village side. WiFi signal was very good, and I’m looking forward to having a working holiday here.
