Devi’s cooking was some of the best food we’ve had so far in Sri Lanka, especially her yellow rice. She also gives cooking demonstrations, so you can see how she makes it. Raheem showed us around Pollunaruwa and even drove us to Sigiriya at 5:30 am. We felt like friends of the family right away. A big recommendation if you’re visiting Pollunaruwa!

They’re kindhearted people who help with so much, including arranging things spontaneously and driving you where you need to go. The price for what you get is very good. We loved the generous breakfast, with eggs, fruit and amazing toast, and the dinner was super tasty. Looking back, it may have been the best vegetable curry we had. The hosts were so friendly, and we’d really love to come back. Thank you so much.

A very quiet spot, just a short tuk tuk ride from the roundabout where you can catch buses or head to the ruins. The family are super friendly, and their homemade dinner was delicious.

The rooms were clean, and the well-maintained bikes were great for getting around. It’s backpacker-friendly and set back from the main road, so I slept well. The owner speaks English and is enthusiastic, and the family can help you plan your day. Best rice and curry we had in Sri Lanka.

Devi Tourist Home was one of my favourite stays in Sri Lanka. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, and answered all my questions about what to do in Polunnaruwa. The rooms were spotless, nicely maintained and better kept than most Sri Lankan guesthouses I’ve stayed in. Wi-Fi worked well, even in the rooms, and the rental bike was good quality for exploring the ruins. Breakfast and dinner came in generous portions. They also arranged an elephant safari for me. It was good, but the jeep was in pretty poor condition for the price.
