Canel Park Hotel

Under the new management, this hotel was really good. The staff were friendly and gave excellent service. Our room was very clean, air-conditioned and extremely comfortable. The surroundings felt peaceful and relaxing, and the facilities were very good. Highly recommended.

The photos look like they date from when the property was new. Maintenance seems inconsistent and is probably the main issue, though it should be easy to fix. My room was poorly cleaned and had mildew. Water leaked across the bathroom floor, and the hot shower in room #4 didn’t work. The rooms should be cleaned between guests, and the bathroom needs bleach. Aromatic incense could help with the musty smell.

It’s such a peaceful place, really calm and quiet, and the service was very clean. Their hospitality is good, too. When they serve something, they bring it out on a tray or something like that. One of the most marvelous places I’ve come across. Highly recommend staying here if you go to Polonnaruwa ❤️‍🔥

The water supply had been cut off and they couldn’t restore it before we checked out. We were planning to leave a day early, but they still tried to charge us the full amount, including service charges and taxes. They kept our national identity cards until we settled the bill, and the person in charge behaved very badly and wouldn’t acknowledge their problems. We ended up booking another hotel for the night and moving there at a higher rate. The bathrooms weren’t properly clean, the beds were uncomfortable, and the pillows and linens were in bad shape. There was no reception, hot water, electric kettle or bottled water in the rooms, and no bathroom hangers, though there were frogs 🐸 😜. There was just one boy trying to handle everything, with no professional staff. Really disappointed 😞
