Hotel Mahanuge

The food was the only part we found acceptable, though we couldn’t judge the kitchen’s condition or practices. We stayed two nights with my family on a half-board plan, and I’d give the place 1 out of 5, perhaps 0. The rooms have no covered walkway, so getting to them in the rain is miserable, and there’s a risk of flooding. There’s no place to load or unload, and no access for disabled guests. The dining area is outdoors, with no safe, sheltered way to reach it, leaving guests exposed to security and weather risks. The cutlery was left laid out continuously, including overnight until breakfast. Diners could use it without knowing whether rats or raccoons had licked or rubbed against it. There was no working front desk or responsible officer on the property after hours to help in an emergency. The rooms had no phone or intercom, just a CDMA phone that wasn’t connected, so we had no clear way to communicate. The old photos and descriptions shouldn’t lure you in. The place has seen better days. The charges are far too high for the poor setup they call a three-star hotel.

The food was superb, and the staff were the best. The atmosphere was so calming too. It’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, and I’d definitely visit again. I highly recommend it.

I booked a party ahead of time, but that afternoon they told me it couldn’t go ahead and would be canceled. They acted irresponsibly. Be careful when choosing this hotel. 🤬👎

I’ve eaten at their restaurant several times. The food and service were excellent, and the prices were reasonable.
