Saninro Hotel Ragama

The buffet was the best part of our weekend package at Saninro Hotel Ragama. There was a good selection, everything tasted great and was well prepared, and the evening tea and snacks were a nice, generous touch. We also enjoyed cooling off at the pool. The space is a bit cramped when it gets busy, but the food and service made up for that. A good budget-friendly weekend option near Ragama if you’re after good food.

The food was a letdown. The hot butter cuttlefish was very dry and bland, the other dishes weren’t tasty, and the pizza was badly made and unpleasant to eat. The room also had problems: the AC didn’t work properly, and even with the connecting door shut, we could hear noise from next door. One night, a drunk man in the neighboring room screamed loudly. It was really uncomfortable, especially with our children, and affected our stay. Management should improve the sound insulation for guests and families.

The bed was the only good part. The sink had black residue floating in it and got stuck, the shower heads were broken so the hot setting was scalding and the cold one freezing, the bathroom wasn’t pleasant, and some switches were broken. At checkout, the front desk manager was extremely disrespectful. He wouldn’t let me leave until the room had been checked and held on to my ID while doing so, as if I were a thief. They keep your NIC until checkout, which is clearly illegal. I paid a fair price in advance and expected no trouble, and even the food we ordered was only just okay. His behavior was really disrespectful.

My friends and I spent five weeks here for a medical placement, and it was a great experience. The staff were wonderful and always ready to help, the rooms were quite nice, and the restaurant was great. They helped make our trip a good one.
