Boulder Garden Hotel

Getting to Boulder Garden Resort takes a bit of effort: the road is narrow and chaotic if you're driving, though we did manage to make it. In return, the setting in Kalawana is peaceful, with striking rock formations and nature all around. It's also a few miles from the main entrance to Sinharaja Forest. The food was delicious, with balanced flavours and thoughtful presentation, and the service was warm and attentive. Staff clearly care about guests, and the small details in the meals and room upkeep add to the charm. The rooms have no telephones or air conditioning, since the weather is cool, but there are ceiling fans, hot water and a mini refrigerator. The bathroom uses a curtain instead of a solid door. That may feel intimate for couples, though it may not suit friends or families sharing. It's a lovely option for a romantic nature break, with excellent food and service.

Boulder Garden Hotel in Kalawana makes for a peaceful jungle escape. The massive natural rocks give the place a magical feel, and the views are beautiful. We enjoyed the food and found the staff incredibly warm and welcoming. A relaxing spot to connect with nature and stay somewhere quite different from a typical hotel. Highly recommended! 🌿✨

Birdwatching here was a dream. On the property we saw resident tickle’s blue fly catcher, hanging parrots, chestnut backed owlet and brown breasted fly catcher, as well as a visiting red babbler. We also spotted a rare small woodpecker. Mr Anand was very hospitable and served us a delicious seven-course dinner. The location and service are a paradise for bird lovers.

A nice weekend spot, especially if you're going with family or friends. The price was reasonable, the staff were really helpful, and we enjoyed the food.
