Guru Beach Resort

The beachside location is superb, and the room was spacious with comfortable beds. But the service and facilities need a lot of work. We waited over an hour and a half for our room after arriving, and the family bungalow bathroom had no door, which made things extremely difficult for us as a family. That setup might suit a couple, but not us. The bathroom also had no towel rail, and the room came with just soap and towels, no other toiletries. There was no kettle, tea, or coffee in the room. Breakfast was part of our package and supposed to be served by 9, when the restaurant opened, but we didn't get it until 9:45, throwing off our plans for the day. Staff response times were terrible. We left feeling very disappointed and disheartened. Our impression was that local travellers aren't welcomed by many resorts in the area, and that foreigners get priority when service is provided.

We had such a lovely two-night stay with our toddler. The view was breathtaking, with a quiet lagoon on one side and one of the most picturesque beaches we've seen on the other. The food was delicious, and whenever our baby needed it, they provided fresh milk and hot water for his formula. Thank you, Charith!

The beach might be the best one in SL. Our two-year-old had a great time, and Guru's location, room, and staff all helped make the stay memorable. Huge thanks to Charith and his team. We'll definitely come back.

The setting is beautiful, and you can hardly get any closer to batch Beach when eating. The rooms were clean, but the facilities and service really need attention. Our room had a glass door for the bath area, which should at least be sandblasted, and there were no bins in the room or bathroom. No tea or coffee setup, no blankets, and no bottled water unless you asked. Restaurant staff only start work at 9, so morning tea isn't available before then, and breakfast comes no earlier than 9:45. There's no variety, and even a glass of water on the table has to be requested. Dinner took two hours from ordering. During our three-day stay the room was never cleaned, and they didn't even make the bed at night. I wouldn't return.
