Jetwing Vil Uyana

The setting at Jetwing Vil Uyana was so peaceful that my mother and I started crying when we arrived at the library for our welcome drink. The website photos don't show what the experience there feels like. It's a five-minute drive off the main tourist strip, so it feels quiet and undisturbed. Every staff member was warm and welcoming, and they took care of every request. We stayed in Jetwing's most superior dwelling. Upstairs was a luxurious king bed, and downstairs there was a large bathroom with a spa bath. We also had a private pool and outdoor furniture. They provided every amenity we could need, even citronella oil. I'm a mosquito magnet and didn't get bitten, but I applied repellent every day. I would still suggest bringing repellent with 80% deet. Jetwing can arrange a tuk tuk or private car for the Dambulla and Sigiriya attractions. I also recommend walking around the property to see the gardens, private farm and native animals. The team made our honeymoon start feel like a 10/10 experience from arrival through to departure. Our personal butler, Hirusha, took care of every detail. The villas were beautiful, the views breathtaking, and the atmosphere peaceful. The food was exceptional.

The garden view rooms had a private pool, plus a lovely outdoor shower and bath with bath salts and bubble bath. A dream! We weren't told that the area around those rooms had been affected by the cyclone, so the works caused some disturbance. Once we talked to the hotel, they addressed our concerns straight away. Inside, the rooms are designed to a very high standard. The views over the lake from the restaurant and library are stunning, and you can see paddy fields around the property. Prasaana did everything he could to make our time at Vil Uyana comfortable, from keeping us well fed at every meal to giving us a private tour of the farm where they grow their own produce. He also drove us around in the buggy whenever we wanted. Highly recommend the hotel. The paddy and lake view rooms look very peaceful too.

The hotel sits in a spectacular nature setting, with water, trees, flowers and wildlife all around, and the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We loved every minute of the bird walk with Bandara. We learned so much from him, and it was a really worthwhile experience. Highly recommended!
