Seerock The King's Domain Hotel

The whole team made us feel welcome, and breakfast had so many tasty options. Our stay at Seerock was incredible: the room was spacious and clean, and having a private jacuzzi felt like a real luxury. I'd highly recommend it for a trip to Sigiriya.

The peaceful, safe setting in the jungle was a big part of why we loved this hotel. It was only about 10 minutes from Sigiriya, and tuk-tuks could easily pick us up or drop us off. There weren't too many guests, and our room was clean, comfortable, and just right. Staff were helpful and even did our laundry. Breakfast was great too. I'd definitely stay again.

The room was the strongest part of our stay: spacious, clean, just like the photos, with good beds, working air conditioning, and a solid barrier against insects. The grounds were quiet and felt secure, and the staff packed breakfast for our early excursions. I’d hoped to love Seerock after seeing its Trip Advisor Ratings and Google Reviews, but I left feeling I’d paid too much. We couldn’t use the plunge pool we’d booked. In January Sigiryia apparently isn’t very hot, and the pool stayed in the shade. Food was another letdown for us as foodies, with limited choices and average quality. We’d repeatedly asked for no fresh fruit or vegetables after getting sick from them at a high-end hotel in Colombo, but garnishes kept appearing on our plates. Lettuce on a sandwich led to my partner having digestive issues right away. We don’t think the staff meant harm, perhaps they didn’t understand the preference. There’s potential here, but some changes are needed to justify the high price. At a discount, the room alone could make it worthwhile. Given the food, I wouldn’t pay full price.

We had a great night here and enjoyed watching wildlife from the pool area. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the room was spacious and comfortable. I only wish the shower head had been upgraded to fit the rest of the experience. I’d happily stay again.
