Serenity Sigiri Resort

This simple place felt more serene and beautiful than any luxury hotel I’ve stayed in, and it became the most memorable stay of my life. The whole family gave us the warmest welcome, and when I told them I was coming for my birthday, they decorated the room, greeted me with birthday wishes on arrival, and baked a huge, delicious cake. The room was spotless and spacious, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and pillows. Even though it’s in the forest, there wasn’t a single ant or mosquito in the room. We had a balcony looking over lush greenery, where breakfast was served each morning at the time we preferred. It was easily the best hotel breakfast I’ve had anywhere.

I’ve stayed in 5-7* hotels, but the care and hospitality here were far superior to what I’ve had in posh places. The host was extremely welcoming, genuinely caring, and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. This privately owned guesthouse left me with a memory I won’t forget.

For a night or a couple of days while visiting Pidurangala and/or Sigiriya, this is a comfortable place with good hospitality. The rooms are well maintained and have the basics, including AC, hot water, a mini fridge, kettle, and clean linen. Sanath, the owner, is a nice guy, and supporting a small business like this is worthwhile.

Sana was incredibly kind and accommodating, and even gave us a free ride to Pidarangula at 5 am. Dinner was delicious, and the rooms were clean and spacious. This is a wonderful, hospitable homestay, about a 12-15 minute walk from Sigiriya's second entrance. It’s relatively remote, but I’d still highly recommend it.
