We spent a few nights with Kumara and his family, and it felt like much more than just somewhere to sleep. We were so glad to spend three nights with Kumara and his family. They’re some of the most caring and special people we’ve met, and the rooms were great too. Kumara can take you around in his tuk-tuk or jeep. His wife’s vegetarian cooking was wonderful, and you can join her in the kitchen as well. Thanks for everything, we hope to come back soon!

It’s a little out of the way, but you can still walk to town and the rock. The owner can drive you by tuk-tuk or sort out bicycles. We loved the family, food, room and location, and the hospitality was exceptional. Definitely the best choice we could have made in the area. Highly recommend.

Finding the guest house took some effort. There aren’t signs after you leave the main road, and the property isn’t obvious when you get there, but the Google map pin is right, so follow it. Once there, we had a really comfortable stay. The bed was great, and the room had AC, a fan and a TV. The bathroom was modern with hot water, which is unusual at this price, and the porch had a table for meals and comfy chairs beside a pleasant garden. The included traditional Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious. They can also make a Sri Lankan dinner if you ask, for 500 rupees per person. The owners are lovely and did everything they could to make us feel at ease. This was one of the best guest houses we stayed in during our month in Sri Lanka. I wish all our stays had felt this genuine and pleasant. Go see for yourself!
