Gayana Hotel

We had a spacious family room on the second floor, with sea views, breakfast and a private balcony overlooking the beach and blue water. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath and shower, though it wasn't cleaned very well. I was told it was the off-season until October and less attention was paid to it then. There's a restaurant across the road and a hotel-owned supermarket. The ground floor is used as a reception hall, so there could be noise if a wedding or function is happening. I stayed here while visiting a friend in Tangalle, and it's a good place to spend time with family or friends and enjoy a sea bath if you fancy one.

There's a shop right below the hotel, so we could pick up anything we needed. The beach is literally right outside. Our room, especially the bathroom, was a bit old.

We'd planned just two nights in Tangalle, but stayed for three, partly because this place suited us so well. The beach nearby was beautiful and empty, and we had our own beach area with sunbeds. A security guard was there overnight, which made us feel safe. The room had air conditioning, a huge bed, warm shower water, and even a small fridge after we asked for one. Restaurants were nearby, and the bus stop was about a 10-minute walk away. I'd recommend it.

The room was nearly clean, with hot water in the bathroom, but the towel was very worn and smelled strongly. Wi-Fi was unreliable, and breakfast was average. We had a sea-view room upstairs, though half the view was the roof, and the waves were loud and strong. It had two single beds and a small terrace. Tuktuk and scooter rentals are available.
