Golden Pearl Tangalle Beach

The room was nice, the hotel is good value, and the workers were lovely. But breakfast was a letdown, especially on my birthday. They said only 5 of the 22 rooms were occupied, so there was no buffet even though breakfast was included. Reception told me at 7 that it started at 8, and after waiting an hour I went for coffee. When I came back, it was instant coffee, white bread, and the same tea bags as in the room. They offered a choice of boiled, omelette, or scrambled eggs, while the empty buffet was still laid out for show. One of the workers kindly made me a second omelette to make up for it. I later saw several reviews describing the same breakfast issue, so I’m puzzled that management hasn’t changed anything. Guests should be told ahead of time. If I’d known, I’d have eaten locally instead. I didn’t come to Sri Lanka for plain food when there are so many choices, and surely local Sri Lankan breakfast would be more cost effective.

The sea view from our room at Golden Pearl Tangalle Beach was beautiful, and the place had a quiet, restful feel during our December vacation. Our room was clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the staff were welcoming and friendly throughout. For what we paid, I thought it was well worth it. I’d recommend it if you’re after a peaceful beach stay in Tangalle.

The setting at Golden Pearl Hotel in Tangalle was a real highlight for the wedding I attended. The backyard felt peaceful, with a breathtaking view of the sea, and would suit a special occasion well. We also had delicious food presented elegantly, and the staff looked after us very well. I’d highly recommend it to anyone planning a wedding.
