I always pick Samans when I stay in Tangalle. It's a great place, with clean rooms and a nice atmosphere, and the owners are very friendly. Chiller restaurant is downstairs, with delicious food, and Samans open Bar is here too. You can get takeaway at the local price or have a drink and relax in the open bar area. It's very convenient: there's a shop just a few steps away, the front beach line and other beaches are nearby, and Tangalle town, with its markets, shops and bus station, is only a 10 minute walk away. I don't think there's really an “off season” on the South coasts or in Tangalle. You can enjoy pleasant weather, the ocean and beautiful nature all year. I'd choose the South coast even when it's “high season” on the East coast. I visited there, but it was crazy hot, the environment wasn't good, it wasn't as green, and it didn't have the amazing vibes I found in the South.
