The staff were welcoming and very friendly, and the pool was peaceful with a lovely view of the sea. We stayed two nights during the busy season, and the price felt reasonable compared with nearby places. We knew beforehand that maintenance was an issue, and the hotel still doesn’t seem well kept. Noise carried in from other rooms and the hallway, perhaps because the older building isn’t properly sealed, and the shower had a slow flow. We didn’t eat there, so can’t speak to the food. The location, views, and staff were worth five stars for me, but the upkeep costs it a point. It’s a nice place with potential in an excellent spot.

The staff and management were such excellent hosts, and the service and hospitality deserve more than five stars if that were possible. My wife and I had a wonderful stay. The facility is very close to the sea, with an excellent view. Many thanks to Mr. Dasun and the kitchen and housekeeping staff. We’d love to come back, especially for the location and the quality of the service.

The building needs significant upkeep to reach its potential, and its condition is the main concern guests mention. Still, the Mirissa Gate Resort has amazing views of Sunset Beach, a great location, and warm, welcoming staff.

The sea views are the one thing here that really amazed me. Breakfast was average, with English breakfast and a few options. I didn’t feel this was a three star hotel. It seems like it may once have been a good luxury property, but over time poor maintenance has left it in bad shape. Rust is everywhere, the old bathroom has broken fittings, and they hadn’t even replaced the tissue for incoming guests. There’s no dental care provided either.

Other than the sea view, I didn’t find anything good here. It feels more like a guest house, with small bathrooms and poor rooms. I’d look for a better hotel closer to the beach. Please don’t choose this one.
