SunRay Rest - Beach View Homestay

The owners were super friendly and cooperative. They even arranged breakfast around our preferred time, and their kitchen is open whenever you need to prepare food or get hot water. The hotel is in a prime location, with beach-view rooms and all the basic facilities for a decent stay. Worth the money.

The beach is less than 10 seconds away, and it’s quiet and beautiful, with very few tourists. I found it even more stunning than some of the famous beaches. Coconut Tree Hill is about a 2-minute walk, and there are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. The location and view are hard to beat, especially for such a generous price for a homestay in Sri Lanka. But what made my five nights unforgettable was the family who hosted me: two lovely parents and their son. Every time I came back, they came out to greet me with the biggest, most genuine smiles. It felt like returning to my grandparents’ home. I felt safe, cared for, and warmly welcomed, and they were always understanding and happy to help with anything I needed. I booked a single room, but it was very spacious, and the bed was double-sized, which made the stay even more comfortable. It seems ideal for solo travelers, couples, and families alike. Saying goodbye after five nights was emotional. I’ll miss them, but truly believe we’ll meet again someday. Thank you for making every day of my Sri Lanka trip so special and meaningful. This was more than somewhere to stay, it became one of the loveliest memories of my trip.

A fellow traveler suggested this place, and there was no need to book ahead. It’s a guesthouse run by a lovely, service-minded family, with a direct path to the beach. The breakfast was lovely, and the rooms and toilets were large, airy, and clean. Mirissa gets VERY noisy with traffic and parties at night, so try for a ground-floor room.

A wonderful family runs this great place, right beside the beach with its own access path. They’re extremely welcoming and take care of everything you need. The price for the quality is extraordinary.
